The Animal Core supports animal-based research at MMRI. Our mission is to provide the best possible veterinary and humane care for the mouse models used by researchers at our institution. Our highly skilled and dedicated staff monitor the health of our research animals daily and provide care and treatment where needed under the direction of our veterinarian.
We are licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH). We hold an assurance with the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) as part of the Public Health Service (PHS) and we are accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC, International).
